We recommend consulting with your dentist before beginning any at-home teeth whitening treatment. Home treatments can carry minor risks if you have poor dental health, wear braces, have had recent oral surgery, or are allergic to peroxide.

If you have very porous tooth enamel, you may experience whitening results faster than someone with much stronger enamel. If you have any cracks in the tooth enamel, any stage of dental carries, or very thin or porous enamel, you may experience tooth sensitivity from peroxide-based whitening gels. If this happens to you, discontinue use and see your dentist if desired. Minerals Enamel Booster, as well as the remineralizing and desensitizing gel that comes in some of our kits, does help with tooth sensitivity.

Most people will experience a mild, transient gum/lip irritation if the gel is allowed on the gums/lips. An allergic reaction to peroxide can manifest as burning of the gums and/or blistering of the lips, whether or not the gel touches the soft mouth tissue. If this occurs, discontinue use immediately, rinse the irritated area well, and consult your dentist or physician if desired. We recommend applying pure vitamin-E oil to the irritated parts of the mouth.

People with gum disease might experience irritation because their gum tissues are not healthy. Only use whitening products if your gums don’t bleed when you floss.
